Someone who truly loves you

It’s 7:22 a.m., Saturday, May 29th, and I was thinking about love. Both, what it means to give it and to receive it. I believe that love has become a limited resource in terms of relationships, often utilized to manipulate others into providing things to undeserving people. Real love, the pure, beautiful kind, is a lost art. The patience, understanding, and compassionate love have been replaced with a toxic form that is widely romanticized. We no longer criticize love or expect it to feel good because we’ve been taught by lovers who can’t love us that love is painful.

Someone who truly loves you will not intentionally break your heart or do things to tear you down. The person who truly loves you will avoid the actions that bring sadness into your life. This person will refuse to take part in things that result in confusion and pain. It breaks my heart to know that right now; you may be in a relationship with someone who has cruel intentions. Someone who, instead of helping you cultivate peace, destroys it at every turn.

I know it isn’t easy to leave but think about how tough it’s been to love someone who isn’t kind to you. I know it’s hard to let go but think of the pain in your fingertips as you hold on tight to the misery that is the person you’re with. I’m keeping you in my thoughts today; I hope you find the courage to move on because the person you love will never love you back.
